Promise Keeper

Text Verse: Galatians 4:23 NLT
“The son of the slave wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfillment of God’s promise. But the son of the freeborn wife was born as God’s own fulfillment of his promise.”

God gives us promises out of His abundant love and goodness. It is in His nature. Love is about giving. And God has generously given us life to experience and enjoy His presence. He is our Good Father who has plans to prosper us and knows all our needs. There are general promises in the scriptures for all the believers. And then there are specific promises for each believer.
God does not give us promises just to excite us. It gives us hope for the future. But also it trains us to have faith in Him.
God gave us promises and He alone will fulfill it. We can see it in our text that we are not the ones to fulfill it. The results are clear when we force things to happen than to wait on God’s fulfillment.

How do we wait on the fulfillment of God’s Promises?

  1. TRUST IN HIS TIMING. God knows the perfect time for everything. God is outside of time and He is in eternity. God created time and He has set every sequence of what He said He will do. He is never late. Our faith is tested when the fulfillment of God’s Word seems like it is not coming to pass. But God is faithful to His Word and His promises. God is a King and whenever He speaks and declares something it is considered as law. It will happen no matter what. Trust in His timing.
  2. ACT ACCORDING TO HIS WILL. Waiting on God does not mean we will not do anything. While we wait on the Lord there is a preparation needed. It also implies we must be ready at any time. If we act outside of His will and force things to happen, it will not produce a good result. Muslims through Ishmael were a result of Sarah’s human attempt to fulfill God’s promises. Know what God’s will is through His Word and act on it.
  3. RESIST THE LIES OF THE ENEMY. Oftentimes believers give up because they have allowed themselves to believe in the enemy’s lies. This also means that what God has for us is so awesome that the enemy is so afraid of us getting it. Through Isaac came Jacob – Israel where the lineage of the Messiah will come. Lies distort the truth. It is intended to stop us from holding on to God’s promises which is sure and secured. Whenever the enemy tells you a lie, declare the truth of the Word of God. His promises are yes and amen.

Father in Heaven, we thank You for everything. You know our situation and needs and we believe that You will make a way when there seems to be no way. Thank You for the hope you have placed in our hearts that whatever happens Your Word will remain. You are the faithful Promise Keeper and we know You will never let us forsaken. We love You. This we pray in the mighty Name of our Lord and King Jesus Christ. Amen and amen.
